What is Corrosion?
Corrosion is the deterioration of a material, especially a metal, through chemical reactions. The most common form of corrosion is rust, which occurs when iron combines with oxygen and water.
Galvanic corrosion occurs when two or more dissimilar materials are brought into contact under water. When this happens, one of the metals becomes the anode and corrodes faster than it would by itself, while the other becomes the cathode and corrodes slower than it would alone—even if both metals would not corrode by themselves.
Gentoo counteracts the effects of corrosion, galvanic or otherwise.
